Job Description

Scope / Function:

2.1 Under the direction of the Sales Engineering Manager, the Sales Engineer will facilitate coordination of all technical phases of manufacturing new product.

2.2 Supervises and gives direction to the Product Managers.

2.3 Prepares quotes by studying blueprints, plans and related customer documents, consulting with engineers and other technical personnel.

2.4 Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and existing customer. Provides product technical and engineering information when answering customer questions and requests.

2.5 Initiates and has responsibility for Quote Process Review (QPR). Works closely with the Engineering, Quality and Operations Groups to ensure accurate quote development as necessary (QPR)

2.6 Coordinates and conveys customer requirements to Manufacturing Engineering and Operations.

2.7 Involvement in the development and improvement of new product processes and methods.

2.8 Organizes and maintains customer files - both hard copy and system as applicable.

2.9 Travels to customer sites as required.

3.0 Job Elements:

3.1 Develops quotes

3.2 New Product Introduction (NPI) participation with Sales function handoff to Engineering.

3.3 Sales Department Representation as an active member of the Material Review Board (MRB) - responsible for direct support for daily parts review and disposition.

3.4 Sources vendors when developing new product. Gets current and updated quotes from vendors for quoting purposes. Verifies material and subcontract pricing when orders are received

3.5 Works closely with vendor base to establish outside processes for new product.

3.6 Creates and updates routings when necessary.

3.7 Follows up on changes on Engineering Change Notices which affect cost and lead time.

3.8 Acquires packaging information and forwards it to Engineering

3.9 Customer Purchase Order Review as part of Duty Sheet on all orders

3.10 TCM Report Reviews- audit reconciliation related to the Sales function

3.11 Responsible for completing weekly report/ audit analysis to assure accounts are processed and up to date.

3.12 Formal follow up on customer satisfaction using approved programs.

3.13 Formally follows up on quotes given and orders not received to analyze reasons

3.14 Maintains close relationship with customer base. Achieves high level of customer support through customer contact.

3.15 Liaison between the customer and the company on engineering matters

3.16 All other duties as assigned

4.0 Qualifications:

4.1 A minimum of five years experience within a manufacturing environment, machining preferred. 2-3 years should be in engineering administration and customer service.

4.2 Excellent Communication and math skills

4.3 Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customer base

4.4 Ability to lead and mentor others in process improvement projects

4.5 Has the ability to formally improve processes for the organization.

4.6 Proven technical knowledge and ability to adapt methods to solve problems.

4.7 Six Sigma project background a plus
