Job Reports to:                   Biology Supervisor

Job Summary:

Responsibilities to include performance of the predetermined biological testing of end use bait formulations, technical grade materials and biology laboratory formulations utilizing established testing methods to acquire investigational data.

Other functions include data collection, as dictated in GLP protocols and Standard Operating Procedures, in product performance and toxicology testing required for product registration, periodic quality control inspections as well as mechanical/competitive product testing.

Essential Job Functions:

At the direction of biology lab supervision, mix experimental product formulations and determine product performance utilizing established testing methods.

Ensure the accurate collection of data using established data collection and reporting mechanisms. Such methods may include data entry utilizing computer programs and databases.

Collect data in product performance and toxicology studies in strict conformity to established GLP regulations. 
Perform non-GLP testing and quality assurance mini-testing to ensure compliance with established Quality Control standards as required.

Generate and interpret batch sheets and formulate accurately. Standard Operating Procedure generation as required.

Equipment operation including pellet mill, electronic balances, twin shell blender, power sprayer, and lab extruder. 

Ensure animal population levels and laboratory supplies remain at sufficient levels to ensure timely testing conduct based upon requirements established by the Biology Laboratory Supervisor.

Animal Handling and Routine Care:

1.            Routine animal care in the biological laboratory including daily health monitoring, feeding and watering.
2.            Animal facility maintenance including, but not limited to, changing animal bedding, sweeping, mopping, Monitoring environmental conditions, cleaning and sanitation of rooms, caging and laboratory equipment.
3.            Off site trips for supplies and animals as required.

4.            Weekend and holiday work as scheduled.

5.            Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 

6.            PC use and a working knowledge of Microsoft® Excel/ Word software.

Position Requirements:

Education:                           Bachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent.
Experience:                         Prior experience with laboratory animals preferred.

                                              Prior work experience in a GLP or AAALAC laboratory preferred.
